“About 50 of the city of Charlottesville’s lowest-paid employees got a pay bump Monday night as the City Council voted to increase the city’s “living wage” from $11.67 to $13 per hour.

After a lengthy discussion over how to decide what specific number constitutes a living wage, councilors voted 4-1 to bring 52 full-time employees up to a minimum pay rate of $13, effective retroactively to July 1, using $50,000 set aside in the budget process earlier this year.”
